Incarnate Word COP Fall 2011

I am applying, working on the supp. app here before too long. I live close by so it is a natural choice for me to backup my perhaps riskier out of state options.
 
I just decided this week to apply. I was having second thoughts due to the expensive tuition but my husband kept telling me to just give it a try anyway.
 
How much is the application fee here? I went on there website but couldn't find anything. It is $50 for the supplemental application but I haven't yet applied to pharmcas is there another fee to pay on there?
 
PharmCAS charges $150, I believe
 
Does anyone know what type of recommendation letters are required? (e.g. professor, pharmacist, etc.)

That's what I was trying to find out as well. But the UIW website doesn't list any specifications and neither does PharmCAS. So I'm just going to ask a former professor and a pharmacist.

For UIW, if English is our second language then we have to take the toefl test but on pharmcas is specifically say

"If TOEFL / TSE is required, please state circumstances for which the test is required.
Non-U.S. Citizen; Attended High School outside of the U.S."

so if your a non-citizen or graduated out of U.S you have to take the test.

Although english is my second language, but I graduated from a highschool in Texas and am a U.S Citizen so does that mean I'm exempt from taking the test?
 
Not sure if anyone can help but I'll ask anyway. I know that the math & science pre-reqs must be taken since January 2005 unless otherwise approved. So I called them to ask what I needed to do to obtain approval and they told me to send a letter asking for approval when I submit the supplemental app. But now that I think about it, do I really want to spend $200 to submit my app only to have my older courses be denied? I'm planning to call them back tomorrow to ask if I can submit an email or letter asking for approval prior to actually submitting the application. But I just wondered if anyone has been faced with a similar situation and what the outcome was. Thanks!
 
^^I'm not sure. I can never get a hold of them on the phone haha I'm still trying to figure out what types of recommendation letters they require. I've called and e-mailed but no response. Does anyone know this information?

I've been having the same problem! I've called and left messages but no one calls back. Plus I've sent them emails and no response either. I guess that means they don't want me to apply. 🙁

I know! It's ridiculously expensive but it is close to home for me

We will see. If they do not get back to me then I will just send in my LOR and hope that they are accepted. If not, I will refute that there was not specifications on what LOR were required. You'll back me up right? Lol
 
Finally got a hold of them. They said that it doesn't matter on who you get your recommendation from. It can be either a pharmacist or professor. I called this morning so it might be easier to get a hold of someone in the morning.

I will try the morning but it's kind of hard since I work
 
I guess I will not be applying here after all. I do not meet the math gpa requirement because I suck at math. =(
 
So my PCAT score is terrible!! i am a horrible standardized test take and therefore my PCAT score is very low! Does anyone know if i should even apply to UIW since the PCAT is a requirement..?

GPA: Science:3.3 Non-Science: 3.9 Overall GPA: 3.5
PCAT: 33, (i did take it again in October again but i really doubt my score will be much higher)
Experience: None but i will graduate from UT with a degree in December and plan to work in a Pharmacy starting in January
Extracurricular activity: VERY INVOLVED in many organization around campus.

Do you think i should apply to UIW or should i save my $100 and apply to schools that don't need the PCAT??

Has anyone got any response from here? How long do you think until we know about interviews and such?
 
Applied to UIW recently.
BS in Bioogy (Pharmcas gpa 2.9).
MS in Neuroscience (Pharmcas gpa 3.0)
PCAT 58
1 year experience in biomedical research
1+ year experience in clinical research (medicine/drug related)
2 year volunteer experience at church

For those who got accepted or currently going to UIW, what do you think my chances are?

I was told they will be contacting for interviews in Feb or later.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I heard UIW may not be rolling admission?

I feel the same way as no one is writing or saying on this thread or forum abt Incarnate Interview stuff........
 
Is no one else applying to UIW? haha I now it's fairly a new program but I heard good stuff about it. Although I did initially question the name of the school haha. I would greatly appreciate it if someone can give some feedback of their experience in being accepted and attending UIW. Thanks. 😀

I was planning to apply but decided against it due to the ridiculously high tuition. But I do know someone who is a current pharmacy student and she loves it so far. Although, I haven't had a chance to ask what it is that she loves.

If it isn't too much trouble, do you mind asking her about her experience? along with what her stats were going into UIW?
I know their minimun gpa is 2.5 but from what i research, someone with a pcat score of 35 has gotten in.

PharmCAS GPA: 3.35

do u guys think that i have a chance of at least making to an interview stage...also if u guys dont mind..could you also post u r stat on here...thnxs in advance!!!

Pharmcas GPA 2.87
PCAT 58
B.S. in Biology
M.S. in Neuroscience
2 years of experience in Biomedical research and clinical research (psych meds related)
Years of community service (church and hospital)

I am also waiting but I have my hopes up since I was told that the lowest PCAT they accepted last year was in 30s and gpa of <2.5.

Will update more later when I hear from them. 😉
 
Can a current UIW student tell me how much is there tuition each per semester (fall, spring) and for every year following P1,P2,P3 and P4.

Actually, I'm considering this school as one of my top choices but am worried that if I do get accepted here then the tuition is very high because its a private school. What options are there fore aid?

Not a current student, but I m applying. Here is some info I found on their tuition:

anyone know how long they will be taking apps from PharmCAS?? They JUST processed my transcript (even though my college sent it at the beginning of January). They are taking forever and a day (and even posted at the top of the log-in page it states that they are having a high-volume time and are bogged down).

I sure hope OIW gets my app before they start sending invites 🙁

I was trying to get some insider info for you guys but I haven't heard back from my friend yet. I figured she may be very busy with school
 
I called the school. I was told interview will be held on March 4 and 11. They will be sending out invites through both e-mail and mail.

She probably in love with the ppl there no joke. almost every pharmacy class is a tight group and the professers are just awesome and encouraging. when my dad went to uiw i observed all this stuff and he seemed to love the atmosphere. I think if he wasn't 56 he might have been close to alot of them. I mean it part of the reason im applying. Anyways has anyone gotten and interview date yet😕? I freakin go here and so far non of the pre-pharmers have heard anything:wtf:!
 
If anyone has been accepted to this school, please let me know so you can be added to the roll call for 2014/2015. Please post in the sticky thread or PM me your acceptances and the program you will be attending (if accepted to multiple schools).🙂

No, just the initial e-mail. When are you interviewing? Mine is March 4th at 2pm
