Is it a good idea to include my master's thesis as a significant research experience? I just graduated and I haven't got around to making it publication-worthy yet, and probably won't have time to do so till md/phd applications are over. If I do include it, should I mention my advisor as my mentor, which will require getting a rec from her?

More generally, does anyone know how I could look at an example of a successful research essay (preferably pertaining to a field far outside my own)? I don't know anyone who's ever applied to an md/phd program personally and I have no frame of reference.

Thanks.

Why not?

Doesn't matter much.

You should get recs with everyone you've done research with, including your master's thesis advisor.

I can try to dig up mine if you want it. PM me if you'd like and I'll see if I still have it.

Edit: Since posting this I've gotten alot of requests for my essay. I don't mind. It's been a few years but I do indeed have it. Please if you're going to PM me include your e-mail for where I should send it. You know, e-mails at .edu or your internet provider or something. I'd prefer sending it to like real e-mails to people who don't mind signing their requests with their real names. The anonymous e-mails kinda creep me out a bit because I send from my school address. It's a, you know who I am, I'm sharing alot of details about my life with total strangers, so I'd like to know a little about you type of thing. Good luck!
