I apologize if this has been asked already. The posts I've read are sometimes conflicting....

What exactly is counted in the official science GPA that med schools see?

I'm pretty sure the science gpa is the same as the BCPM gpa. so it's Bio, Chem, Physics & Math.

Is that just the 2 bio w/lab, 2 chem w/lab, etc, that med schools have as a prereq? Is that all math, or just certain requirements? I have an intro chem and intro physics course I took just to see if I'd do okay so I wonder if they will count.

I am a CS-Math major, and I had to take some upper level math courses....they all counted towards my BCPM GPA. Kinda stinks that my Discrete math grade gets factored in...bleh

i'm pretty sure that ANY math or science classes you took during UG count towards the sGPA.

Nope, it's any and all bio, chem, physics, and math. Those intro courses will count.

Some other courses that "seem" like one of these can also be included if desired: I included my psych class in Brain and Behavior as a bio, and didn't have any problems. Somebody else on here included computer science: discrete mathematics.

I won't be applying 'til next year, but I am guessing, then, that the system just has you fill in the blanks and they then verify it against your transcripts?

Pretty much.

There's some room for manipulation if you want to increase your science gpa just a little bit, but chem and physics classes are definitely included, where natural or other science classes like astronomy and anthropology are definitely not.
