My application was verified today, but I noticed that despite clicking "no" on the "do you consider your self disadvantaged?" section that I was designated as "SES disadvantaged E02" on my verified application. I double checked the PDF of my unverified application, which I sent to my pre-med advisor and saw that there was no indication of "SES disadvantaged," so I'm really confused as to why it's on my application now! I don't consider myself disadvantaged at all and I don't want to be misrepresented and have medical schools think that I am whiny or trying to get an unfair benefit with the disadvantaged status 🙁 I emailed AMCAS since they are not open today, do you think they will fix it?

I think the AMCAS application asks you other questions in the app and may decide based on those questions that you are disadvantaged even if you don't personally think you are.

So if my dad got his GED but my mom has her Masters, would this count?

If I recall correctly, anything under a BA/BS is the lowest socioeconomic designation. Not sure how they average the two parents out though...but I'd say it makes sense given your designation. So no need to worry. It's nothing you could have changed, and they know that.

Ok, that's a relief! I was worried it was done incorrectly and that medical schools would think I put it just to get an advantage
