Heads up to Canadian applicants, if you're applying to Midwestern, they require you take the TOEFL test regardless if English is your first language.

I think that is alittle ridiculous especially since u went to an American university. I guess they think that your made of money and can afford to be throwing it around.

Oh wow I am Canadian too, and I just looked at it now.. I need to take it too! that sux! But I do have an interview date set with them already. This is extremely annoying.

I personally think this is ludicrous, and obviously have had no problems with all other universities that I applied to. I even told the lady, "Look, I'm speaking in clear English to you right now!" I just don't have the time and money to be doing this test, which I think is very redundant and pointless for my case. As I result, I either have to schedule and take this test for Midwestern's requirements only, or pull my application.

That should get you some brownie points.

Yup, happened to me too, even for their Masters program. It's worse for me since I'm a Canadian attending a Canadian university. They not only want me to write my TOEFL but to also take all my prereqs at an American university, regardless of whether or not I have already taken them at a Canadian university. Ridiculous! I guess they just want their class composed of American citizens/residents.

Maybe they have some reservations about the Can grading system.

i was just there yesterday for an interview. the head of adm mentioned smth about toefl. i didn't really pay much attention since i'm a us citizen, but as far as i remember, he said that it'll be changed online soon, so really u r not missing any reqs. it was there by mistake. don't quote me on that though. just wait for the interview and they'll explain u what u need/don't need later

Well I emailed to ask them and that's what they told me. I don't know if the same goes for their dental school. Doesn't matter anyway because I got rejected 🙁

I think TOEFL is very stupid. As long as you can understand what the application says and answered them correctly, I think that's basically all you need to prove that you understand English.

No kidding, and it's not like I failed university-level English

You have a right to be frustrated although I wouldn't have used that harsh of a tone.
