hey , m planning to gv my exam in july 2011, m from fairfax VA, doing it from dental decks n asda papers.. m done with ant,biochemphysio,micro, still to do with dental ant,, does online kaplan test help ?,,lets share more information keep ourselfs positive n give the best

m preaparing for NBDE but planning to give the exam in 2012...i have a doubt regarding the anatomy part...in BDS,we read only the head and neck anatomy but i have seen that in kaplan material,they have elaborated complete anatomy...so,should we prepare the whole anatomy or is head and neck anatomy sufficient?also, are kaplan online tests worthful or is it enough if i solve dental decks and ASDA papers?

All my best wishes to all you NBDE 1 aspirants. I have cleared this exam last yr and thus feel that I should give u guys some tips. First of all DO NOT EXPECT TO SEE REPEAT QUESTIONS IN YOUR EXAMS. they know very well that some of you will team up as a group and choose successive dates allowing time to discuss questions. so my advice....don't even try that..they are particularly severe on such attempts.
2. know and understand the subject well.....they test u on your understanding.... remember..d schools out here train the students of 1st yr themselves to take exams like this..and u guys do not have that advantage.so read text books to understand the subject and concepts...
3. suggestions: decks...mosby's...kaplan..NBDE first AID..past papers(for knowing the question types) and try to obtain the latest ASDA test releases

thanks for you preparation tips.....im havin my exam in first week of november this year...currently reading through my textbooks,kaplans book and decks....and i hv planned to go for MCQ's and released papers in last two months....any suggestions regarding the strategy of studying as some people say reading textbooks is not that helpful...but i find kaplans a very brief review of the concepts?and how much u should score on asda papers to get a decent score in finals??
 
hey,,i have started with dental decks ,,bt whenever i read d q bd answers ,,i get confused ,,,ns i feel like reading d book first ,,,nd say m solving aq for speen ,,,then whenever i look for calplan notes it takes me sumtime to find d topic speen,,,how should i go ,,,nd how u were studing

Hey ...Thanks for your advice .....I am planning to take nbde part 1 in dec ...Can you please share with us how much time you devoted to prepare for the test as in how many hours/day....for how many months ...?Do you think its better to take the exam this year or wait till next year when new criteria will be followed ?

Iam in Mumbai.studying for nbde part1 since a month.i have sent my reports for ECE evaluation.Iam confused about when to give the exam.As the system is changing in 2012 will it be a disadvantage for us as it will be difficuilt for the colleges to select if there is no percentile to grade on.
And how can i get recent asda papers
 
i am also planing to write nbde 1 by December... though visa issues are still confusing me ... and also the pattern change in 2012..
plz suggest ..

I suggest ........contact the colleges and ask them the requirements for next year....if they are gonna give admissions based on DAT scores (just as NYU has already announced) then i guess its better to give nbde part 1 in 2012 and just obtain a pass status and concentrate on DAT....which will be the game changer...so be in touch with the universities is all i can advice you

hi thanks for the information.i am also preparing for part 1 .planning to give it in 2012 only.can u please tell me that shall i need to study from latest kaplan books or older ones also have same amount of content.I downloaded 2002 and 2004 years biochem,microbiology and pathology lecture notes.will it sufficient or shall i purchase latest kaplan books??and in antomy do I have to read upper limb , lower limb ,histology and embryology too??as only head & neck was taught during bds. plz reply..
 
helloooo dude , this is usa and the exam is nbde , they are not looking for us from india or what we studied in india, this test is conducting basically for american dental students hence they follow their curriculum so please study all of the anatomy except LL.ok all the best for the test.
 
I would recommend to go for " Dental Decks NBDE Part-1" then go for ASDA released papers, read Micro-organism classification chart from Kaplan.
Will say to keep Kaplan, First AID for reference.

Just a quick suggestion to all applicants...
since its just a PASS or FAIL in NBDE part 1 & 2, dont waste too much time in preparation...3- 4 months of full time reading would be sufficient atleast to pass if your concepts are clear...
Put the remaining time in building up your resume rather then wasting it behind the exams where you just need to pass..Because now, your profile is something that will take you further..not just PASS status on your part1 & 2,,...
