I would love to hear ideas and impressions from current students at both schools. I've been accepted at both to start in August. Thanks in advance for your help!

🙂

Any post-match info out of either school? Stories of joy and triumph? Cautionary tales? I'm really wondering about current students perceptions of match prospects coming out of both programs. I am a non-traditional applicant accepted at both schools trying to make good informed decision between the two. Sorry for the shameless self-bump, but hey I'm desperate for info from people who know...

Help me Obi-wan!

😕 😕 😕

Thanks!

Hi! I'm a med student at UVA and was accepted to EVMS back when I applied...

It's kind of a tough question because I think they're both really good schools. I'd say go with your gut and choose the school you're more comfortable with (also with the area where you'd like to live, and any other factors) and go in with a positive attitude - and you'll be fine wherever you end up. That' s just my take on things though...maybe someone else can provide more information. I think both schools do well with matching for residencies. I think having a good attitude and just plain luck have a good deal to do with your experience, so it's hard to make any kind of definitive statement. I've been impressed with a lot about UVA, and I think it's a school definitely worth considering.

My only real suggestion is to visit both schools again if you get a chance, talk to more students and see if you could see the school being a good fit.

I'd be more than happy to try to answer any specific questions or just provide more info...sorry if this wasn't any help.

Good luck and most importantly congratulations! Either way, you're going to med school! 🙂

Indigo-
Thanks for the good info and good advice! I hope you're enjoying C'ville- I went to school and worked there for years. It's nice to hear from someone with your point of view. Lots of people don't seem to realize that there are a ton of great schools out there that aren't in the US News and WR top 50. Cheers🙂
