dksamp or anyone know how the coding and reimbursement differs among family practice attendings and internists when it comes to in-patient medicine?

Hello,
When it comes to inpatient reimbursement, there is no diference between FP and IM in what they can be reimbursed. The reimbursement scale is all based on the medicare fee schedule for that state. Just go to your state's medicare website and check out the fee schedule

Codes for:
Admit H & P= 99221, 99222, or 99223
Followup days= 99231, 99232, or 99233
Discharge summary= 99238

Look up that code for that particular state and you will see the reimbursement for that code. Each state will have different fee schedule, and some may vary by county, but no differentiation for FP vs IM. Hope this helps. PEACE!!
