I will be beginning the process this spring and am just rounding out my list now. I want to stay in the northeast.

Short background: 3.7 undergrad GPA Biochem/Economics dual major
517 MCAT score
2.5 yrs experience as clinical (intraoperative) neurophysiologist

Here's my list of schools:

University of Pittsburgh (reach)
Weill Medical (reach)
Johns Hopkins (super reach)
T Jefferson
Temple School of Medicine
Penn State
Hofstra School of Medicine
Einstein
University of Rochester
SUNY Downstate
Albany School of Medicine
SUNY Upstate
Georgetown Medical
George Washington
Quinnipiac

I've got those three reaches, but I'm thinking I need more less competitive options to add to my list. Any input would be appreciated, including substituting other reaches into places (Johns Hopkins) where I may have no chance whatsoever. Thank you for your time and input!

Moving to WAMC

Can you give us a more comprehensive look at your application? Particularly research and volunteering?

What state are you a resident of?

If you're trying to stay in the Northeast, here are schools I would recommend applying to:

Boston U
Rochester
Einstein
Mt. Sinai
Columbia
Cornell
NYU
Hofstra
Pitt
Dartmouth

If you're willing to go a bit more south, add any/all of these:

UVA
VCU
Duke

You can also add all of the high volume schools in the northeast as well if that is really your #1 priority, though your MCAT score is a little high for them - you might get a few bites, however.

all the SUNY schools
Jefferson
Penn State
Drexel
Temple
Tufts
Quinnipiac
Georgetown
George Washington
