Hey people,

I need some advice as a reapplicant. If i Dont get in again this year, Im thinkin about pursuing this masters program as a segway to get in to optometry school but it may be too long for it's own good, either that or I would do a certificate program within this to shorten the time and just GET IN and blow it outta the water. Either way, my final goal is to get into optometry school, period. PCO is my top choice.

Please let me know what the experienced people on this forum think. Thanks. See below.

Are you interested in Low vision, I definately wouldn't take it if you weren't serious about it. I like that PCO has this as an option because I know its a specialty I want to have, but its a lot of work and most students don't typically go this route unless they are serious about it. I inquired at my interview when students typically take this and usually its not until your 3rd or 4th year. So if I were you I'd make sure it was something I'd want to do. Typically this is a course designed for OTs and rehab counselors so taking the courses required don't necissarily help you become a better Low vision specialist compared to a residency, however it does give you a better perspective on low vision as a whole and includes more devices that you probably still won't give your patients if you do specialize in it. Also, ask PCO if they think it would even improve your chances of acceptance because they may want you to focus on more of the courses like anatomy and physio that you would be taking in your first year
