I'm at a crossroads right now and I was wondering if anyone can give me their input....I'm currently an undergraduate going into my senior year. I have a 2.7 science GPA and about a 3.1 overall GPA (i believe). I have 4 classes left for my B.S. degree and i'm planning to take the PCAT again in August (my other PCAT score isn't that good). I am hoping to apply for pharm school for the 2013 cycle.

My problem is that I can either graduate this fall and work throughout summer, fall & spring (pretty much up until I enter pharm school) or graduate in spring instead while still doing the same things (i.e. work, volunteer, etc). Do you think pharm schools would care if I take spring off or would they prefer for me to be in school?

Well I would be applying for the 2013 cycle regardless. I was just wanting to hear opinions on whether it would be better for me to graduate in fall or spring.

My fault, wasn't reading carefully, I don't think they care if you graduate in fall or spring, but are more concern about your avg. GPA by the time you graduate.

I'll be working hard for sure until i graduate. I know i made mistakes so I'm trying my hardest to make up for it. I just didn't know if me graduating in fall or not would weight heavily on pharm school decisions.

It might be easier to schedule interviews around school (a known entity) versus around a job you've only had a short while (and you may still be in the probationary period when it's an issue).

Just a thought.

When you're offered an interview for pharma school, you often get to choose between a couple dates. These dates are always on weekdays, so attending the interview may interfere with any classes you have. Many profs are good about letting you make up course work, but it really depends on the prof. If travelling any long distance, you will at least be out of circulation for travel time (many people fly in the night before) and the day of the interview.

I don't think that the schools would care in general just as long as you can justify that you are working toward something. Like you are working to save up money or working in a pharmacy to gain experience etc. Being in school vs. not being in school shouldn't be a deal breaker for getting into pharmacy school.

No, pharmacy schools do not care if you take the spring off especially if you have your B.S. degree. I was out of school for over three years when I applied to pharmacy school.
