I dont want to offend anyone here, but I have been wondering how a narcissistic med-student can sit through lecture after lecture hearing the DSM IV criterias of personality disorders and not get help? How does one expect to be a respected physician if they are a jackass? How can you expect patients to take your advice to go back into the hole they crawled out of seriously? I feel akward for my narcissistic classmates everytime personality disorder issues are brought up and I keep hoping to see the cheap insults and constant comparisons fueled by personal insecurities decrease as time goes by, but I'm in my second year and at least 5% of my class could be considered total lunatic resembling jackasses. I know they are driven people because if they weren't they wouldn't be in med school. Maybe Im a jerk for bringing this up but shouldnt they get professional psychological help...?

But who are you to tell them they can't be complete jackass narcissists and still be healthy? Did you ever think that they might have already sought help but are genetically narcissistic?

There are only two proven therapies for personality disorders, and they both end in "-icide."

Retroactive spermicide?

DSM was created by loners who envy'd the narcissistic and estabilished a pseduo-scientific way to accomplish it.. It's all propaganda similar to how fat people try to make everyone think "FAT is IN! Skinny is Out/Gross", yet When you go to Wal-Mart and see Ms. Large and Proud with her shorts on and cottage cheese stirring in the back of her thighs.. You realize that Ms. Large and Proud is not giving Jessica Simpson and her daisy dukes a run for their money anytime soon. It's just not happening..

Here's a simple breakdown you can carry with your other pocketbook while rounding..

---------------------

Winner > Loser

Friendly > Lonely

Narcissim > Emo

Slim > Fat

Rich > Poor

Jock > Theatre/Band

Pretty > Ugly

Smart > Stupid

Real-Life > World of Warcraft

Private Practice > Academic

Hot Construction Worker or Hot Nanny/Maid > Bald, Pudgy, or Ugly Doctor (even with a Fellowship in X and a Nobel Prize hanging from their genitalia)

Affluent Patients > Crack Addicts

Fake Volunteering > Actually going to Africa and Volunteering

All except Psychology > Psychology

Bloody/Pus-filled Tampoon > DSM Guidebook

and..

Pepsi > Coke

While explaining this to patients, you may find some that disagree with the laid out logic here, if so, see page 47- Section: PEOPLE in DENIAL

-----------------------

Gee.. talking about other narcissistic people in your class after psych.. Ever notice tendencies of self-rightousness?

Narcissistic > self-rightous 😛
