would your license be taken away if you refuse to pay a parking ticket say because you & the police officer DISAGREE (not that I did not stop but the @$$hole doesn't think I stopped):
(case 1) stopping completely at a stop sign in a small neighborhood (my own)
(case 2) red-light right turn

no injuries involved. it's not b/c I cannot afford it, but because I refuse to give MY money away to @$$holes (not even a DIME).

on a related note, if no injuries are involved, what non-pharmacy actions would jeopardize one's license? I think as long as I act professional while on the job, isn't that enough? or must I dedicate my whole life outside of my job to being sophisticated/professional? i guess that means no nude beaches for RPhs or cussing back at police officers who give you tickets, huh? 😎 i think in any case, regardless of one's profession, if a police officer is being a jerk, any civilian has the right to defend themselves (even if it means using vulgarity)--maybe i went into the wrong profession 😀

Hmm. I don't know about the license, but both stop sign and red light are MOVING VIOLATIONS, not parking tickets. Most states have some provision in the law to eventually revoke your DL for failure to pay (or to appear in court over) a moving violation.

Just pay it and move on. Think of it as donating money for road improvement or the new municipal park. That way it won't hurt so much. It's your word against an officers and in the stop sign or red light violation, unless it is on camera, you WILL lose.

You may not lose your pharm license. But you can be issued a warrant and be put in the slammer until you pay your fines. If you think the charges are wrong and you can afford it as you say, present your case in front of a judge or hire a good lawyer, dont just walk away from it and think its all going to go away.

Any drug or alcohol charges could get your license put on probation or suspended. Obviously on the drug charges but people do no think about a DUI. I know of a pharmacist who got a DUI and I think he was put on probation for three years.

So yeah you do have to dedicate your life outside of your job to being sophisticated/professional.

In AZ, failure to pay state income tax will result in the board calling you up and saying that you pay the tax or your licensed is suspended.

Happened to a friend who stupidly counted his signon bonus as "salary."

Ended up owing the IRS the difference + 5000 + Misdemeanor.
For AZ owed 1000+

Stupid reason, but it's effective to get you to pay taxes!

Other reasons to lose your license in AZ (Judging from ways that MDs and Nurses lose their licenses)
1. Fraud (technically moral turpitude)
2. Starring in a porn movie postlicensure (God, I hope my classmates never do that as a 2nd profession)
3. Crossing Miracle Mile driving the wrong way with a BAL of 0.2. (MD license revocation twice (means if one revocation is lifted, her license would be revoked again))
4. Alimony nonpayment
5. Related: CPS says that you're an unfit parent

They're some others, but those are off the top of my head.

In CA - anything which is related to your ability to practice "unhindered" - etoh or drug related anything & you'll be brought before the state board.

I think you can go to a nude beach nude if it is actually a nude beach - but if you're arrested for "nudity" - like being nude when not in a nude-ok place....you could be in trouble.

Getting caught doing anything which might be perceived as influencing your job situation - stealing, fraud, etc...

Parking tickets - eh...thats a way of life in SF......

Moving violations - I think only count if you've accured enough to cause injury which might influence your license status - that shows poor judgement.

As for alimony or child support - no problems there - they just garnish your wages...

As for "sophisticated/professional" - well...the judgement of that changes with geography. The definition of sophisticated will be like night & day when you live in SF, Fresno, LA or Eureka.....

Soooo... the state boards only care if you star in porn post-licensure?

I think I just found a way to pay for tuition.

oh how I miss Tucson!

now why would being in a porno be cause to lose one's license? must it be professional? what if amateur film somehow became public? but I must concur, I really hope none of my classmates go that route!

Georgia will take away your license if you fail to pay your student loans...

no joke, go take a look at the BOP minutes!
