Hi,
I am going to apply today and confused of instate friendly schools.
My home is in AZ but I went to college in CA so can I apply CA schools as instate??

I put my home address on my AADSAS so is AZ my state?

Hey I am in the same situation as you. I go to school in Cali but am originally from another state. I called aadsas about this and they said since I have a California drivers license and am living in California they consider me a California resident. The only difference between u and me is that I have a California address from which to apply so I don't know how you would apply as a California resident since you used your Arizona one. My advice is to call and explain your situation and see what they think.

Fortunately or unfortunately, AADSAS is not the competent body that makes decision about residencies; that is the realm of the individual states/institutions.

I would figure this out immediately, contact the schools to know. I am from WA and went to Utah for school. Everything I have is still connected to WA but I had to get a Utah drivers license while here. I called WA just to make sure I would be considered a WA resident and they said that I needed to change my license back to WA immediately or I wouldn't be considered a resident when I enrolled.

I would think that the state you are originally from is your best bet for residency, but keep all ties like drivers license, car registration, and a valid address. Most states you move to just for school will not consider you a resident. Most states require you to have tried to start residence and have employment there for a couple of years. Also things like buying a home, drivers license, car registration etc. And living in a dorm and working on campus part time probably doesn't count haha.

This is just my experience with residency, hope it helps!

az resident here who went to ca for undergrad and graduate. op, you're not a ca resident bc you don't pay ca taxes. simple as that
