Since I checked "Yes" to the IA box on my AMCAS primary and on the BU secondary, they are now asking me for a letter explaining the facts from an appropriate school official.

However, my record was expunged upon graduation. If I send a Dean's Certification letter, it will just say that I have no disciplinary record. The only account of what happened is my personal explanation.

What should I do?

Because the question asked if I had ever been the subject of an IA and so yes, I had been the subject of an IA.

what was ur IA for? Also, i called amcas and they said you only have to report institutional actions that are on your record regardless if they have been expunged/removed from your transcript. If they are not on you're schools record, your school doesnt view them as institutional action anymore probably. You should have just called your school before you reported it. Even though my school said the incident was not on my record, they also said it wasnt an IA

Concur; I think you'll be fine. Might make for an interesting interview question too.

Hm, I was advised by almost everyone to report this because AMCAS worded it as "have you EVER." I was told that even if it is something that would be expunged upon graduation, I still need to check "Yes."

Are you guys saying that I shouldn't have done that?

BTW who were you advised by to report it?

Write up your own brief explanation on the incident and expungement and email it to the appropriate office at your school so they can cut & paste easily in response to the secondary inquiry. You 'erred on the side of honesty' which is, IMO, a good thing. I'm assuming the IA was for a minor infraction (alcohol, pot) and won't hurt you nearly as much as a possible failure to disclose would have.

Hi, my Premed advisor recommended that I report it.

I previewed my Dean's Cert. letter and sure enough, it says something along the lines of "Mariam does not have a disciplinary record."

I submitted the secondaries and so I'm just waiting now.
