I would have to first take some classes to learn the CPR/AED or w/e and then take an instructor course to be able to teach...I would think it's somewhat interesting, but I am more concerned about if I would just be wasting my time (in the eyes of the all-mighty adcoms) , it's not like I am getting paid or anything. Sorry, I'm not gonna beat around the bush and say that I would love to do this just because I have a passion for it.

I think it'd be worth it. You're showing altruism (by learning life-saving skills and wanting to teach others them) and you're also learning an important skill set. Granted, AED use is not that hard, nor is CPR (as long as they don't change it from 30/2, etc.) so I don't think you'll have to worry about something overly intellectually straining. That being said, they might ask you why you wanted to, and besides saying something to EMT work or CNA work it might seem "strange."

If you have the time and the money, then go for it. It will look good on your application. But if you're applying this year for the 2008 cycle, then I see little point in doing it.

It is worth it. Adcoms will see it as a positive thing. I was actually asked about it in my interview.
