If I study hard for my genetics final I might be able to pull off a C in the class. However, my university does not allow retakes of previously passed courses. I looked at all the CCs in the area and none of them offer genetics-related courses. So it seems like if I pass genetics this semester with a C, that will be the grade I apply with to DO schools. This is a 4 unit class and it will weigh down my sgpa lot if I get a C. My sgpa can potentially be .05-.1 higher if I retake with a B or an A. So my question is, should I intentionally fail this course so I have the ability to retake it next semester?

What a fun and tricky subject! I'm assuming it's too late to withdraw. If this is your only C, I wouldn't worry about it. Ace the rest of your classes and you'll be fine. If you have multiple Cs, and your GPA is closer to 3.0 than it is 4.0, then I would try to re-take it. Just my two cents.

Edit: As someone below pointed out, you can take it online if your school doesn't allow it. I hadn't thought of that. If you do fail, I endorse that idea!

I also agree that you should try for the C and re-take it somewhere else.
