I am sure most of you are in the know about the upcoming Podiatric Student Research Conference in New York from February 15-17, 2008.
For those of you hearing about it for the first time, this is the FIRST conference of its type. It is a conference for the students, by the students.
There are 3 key components to the conference:
1. Research Posters
There will be a poster competition with a cash prize for the top posters. The posters can be about any topic within the podiatric field. Unlike other conferences, participants will receive feedback about their posters as to improve on their posters in the future. Each school participating in the conference will be providing one judge, so that judging is fair.
2. Workshops/Wet Labs
There will hands-on workshops put on by a number of companies that will be sponsoring this event. These include such workshops as applying Apligraf, doing fixation, taking bopsies etc. There will be workshops in the areas of medicine, surgery, wound care and orthpedics. These workshops will be available for all students participating in the poster competition and all students who attend the conference without presenting a poster. There will also be workshops instructing students on how to properly assess journal articles.
3. Networking
This conference provides a forum for students from across the country to network and interact.

In the document there is an application for those who would like to submit a poster and an application for those who would like to attend the conference and participate in the workshops. Also, for those presenting posters, there will be some reimbursement for travel and accomodation. Please speak with your student council presidents for more details or contact [email protected]
If this event is a success, there is potential that this can become an annual event. Your support and attendance is most appreciated and will be worth your while.😀
