Thank you for the brief introduction Mewcakes, although you made me sound like a stalker. However, being on the school orientation committee..it's kinda my duty.
As for Hearts 777, read this post because there is a lot of information on here

Bayamon, I am going to be honest, is definitely not what you see when viewing a Puerto Rico brochure lol. But the cost of living is very cheap, except for food, and we are only a 20 minute drive to beautiful beaches and the tourist friendly San Juan (most people are bilingual there). But you should be receiving housing information from the school soon...they have their own student apartment complex. If you decide to live off campus and may want to live with upper classmen, who are continually looking for roommates, I recommend you join the facebook group: IAUPR 2014 (search student organizations). On this FB site you will find all kinds of information, including cars, and many of the administrators are actively involved..they are very friendly and easy-going.
If you are considering purchasing a car, many people go to "Clasificados" which is the equivalent to Craigslist. However, with my experience I do not recommend it. Many 4th years are selling cars and I would definitely jump on that because some of the deals are GREAT. I went the other route and bought a used car from a dealership (expect to at least pay $3500 and up at a dealership).
The only bad I can think of is some of the professors may have thick accents when speaking English and it reflects on some of their test questions. But the test errors are not that bad where you do not understand what is being asked.
Two of the professors graduated from IAUPR and went on to do residencies in the states, such as SUNY and Berkeley (yes, they are pretty sharp lol). And most of the clinical professors are great ODs and 2 OMDs.
What will piss you off, is how long things take to be done in the island, including the institution. So if you're type A personality, much like myself, you may find yourself pulling your hair out the first couple of months. The island life is very chill and that is a term we are not very used to on the East Coast...so don't expect EXCELLENT customer service lol. And one last thing, the driving hear is very similar to NY...very aggressive. Ironically I don't see many accidents....but you get used to all this with time.
Best of luck with your decision making!
