Hello,
My name is Kayla. I am really interested in obtaining a Ph.D in psychology or biology or a science in general. I am currently a first year student and Arizona State University and I'm looking for someone to answer the following questions for me:

1. What made you want to become an Ph.D?

2. Knowing what you know now, would you pursue a different career?

3. What do you love about your career?

4. What do you dislike about your career?

5. What is the most important thing for a student who is thinking about becoming an Ph.D to know?

6. What qualities do you think undergraduate students need to have to enter your field?

7. How important do you think a student’s GPA is?

8. What do you wish you knew as an undergraduate?

9. Are there other careers that you seriously considered/would change to now?

10. Are you currently at a private practice/what is your work environment like?

Thank you so much for your time and answers!
Kayla

I smell homework assignment...

Haha partially! This was actually a past due assignment I wanted to shoot out to a bunch of professionals. I'm SO on the border about what I want to do. As a freshman in college all the doors are open... but I find myself unsure of how each will pan out. I feel like I'm not really cut out for long term schooling... but that all the careers I'm interested are 8+ years of extra school. I'm mainly curious!

I think the point of assignments like this is not only to inform you about your possible career, but to even connect you with individuals around you, working in that career, to give you some sort of connection or an idea of what it is like to work with a Ph.D. in that state. You should try reaching out to some professionals near you! If you're really just curious, skim through a few pages worth of threads, there's a lot of threads about whether or not people regret their Ph.D., a typical week of work, etc.

If you spend a few hours searching on this forum you'll be able to have a much better idea about the field, fit, etc.

Posting homework questions on here is not allowed, so I'm not sure anyone will respond to them (or if this thread will be locked).
