Anyone had any interesting pimp questions that they would like to share? This would help us students if we collaborate some pimp questions. Some questions might show up even on interviews.

what are the lower extremity manifestation of cancer of the head of the pancreas?

give me 5,342 causes of lower extremity swelling associated with the amazonian tribial peoples in the ages 12-34, whom are third born sons of a twin.

I don't really know about sharing pimp and/or interview questions. The whole point is usually to NOT know the answer, have to go look it up, and then remember it very well as a result. If we spoon feed other students, it's effectively like using old tests... they might then seem to "know" the answer the attending is looking for, but it defeats the purpose since the student doesn't really have to look it up or learn much in the end.

That APMA guide from the Young Members' website had good social and academic interview questions.

I've only been in clinic for a couple months, and some of the good memorable questions I've had were on Vassal phenomenon, ulcer classifications and organisms, CMT and what it does to the foot, and AO and ex-fix principles and bone blood supply. I know those are elementary level knowledge for the 4th year students, but I learned a bit since I hadn't had those in classes yet (except the ulcer and anat stuff)...

I do not agree that this is like using old tests. The student still has to look up the answer therefore making it memorable. Who cares when the student learns the info as long as they learn it.

questionable question (not sure if true or not) asked during interview, "What is Dr. Armstrong's first name?"

haha

Lance?
  • Here's one I think is revealing: "Name five Journals related to the foot." It shows if you read or not.
  • During CRIPS: [showing a map of the USA to the interviewee] "Point to where our program is located." It shows if you're interested enough in the program to even find out where it is.
  • Salt Lake City VA: "Why? Why? Why? Why?" 3.5 hour exit interview by Dr. Gregg Young during which he asked repeatedly why I would do something the way I said I would.

Do you mean questions for a resicency?
