Interfolio Disaster - Please Help

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi everyone! I am having an interfolio disaster, please help if you can! Here is the situation (and I apologize for the long post). Earlier this evening, I requested Interfolio to send 2 of the 3 letters that are in my file to approximately 10 schools - only the schools I am applying to that accept Electronic Deliveries. To figure out which ones select electronic delivery, I searched for each school that I am applying to - those whose address did not come up automatically, I just hit back for...they never showed up on the list of schools that I clicked to send deliveries to. I also only paid for these 10 or so schools. When I went to look at "My Deliveries" on the website today, there were MANY more schools listed there, basically every single school that I had searched for at one point or another. For the schools that I had not originally selected or paid for, it says delivery of ALL THREE LETTERS is pending. This is incorrect and I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY don't want this third letter to go out to schools and I never asked it to go out!!!! WHAT DO I DO? I sent an email and I called, but it's after hours...PLEASE HELP.

What's so bad about this letter going out?

Ok, on your 'my deliveries' page, under 'status', does it say that they are waiting for checkout? Or Currently Being Processed? If it's the first, don't worry about it, just ignore them, or delete them on the initial page. If it's the second... you could try calling them, and telling them to halt the delivery... up to you. If it's after hours, they won't go out until tomorrow anyway.

it says they are "currently being processed"...I don't even understand how this happened, I haven't paid for them! I paid $40 for 10 electronic deliveries, which appear to include the correct documents...

I really don't want that letter to go out because it is from 3 years ago and has absolutely nothing to do with medical school. It was written for a fellowship position I applied to...I am assuming it is an okay letter, but it was not at all meant for medical schools and it just makes me look careless, but I really did not even select for those schools to get these deliveries!

I say calm down. I think adcoms will understand that it wasn't meant for them. it's not as disastrous as you might imagine. i doubt anyone will reject you for this one letter.

call interfolio tomorrow and try your best to straighten it out. worry about the worst case scenario if that doesn't work out.

Not to add to your angst, but...all the electronic ones are pretty much automatic, so there wouldn't be a way to stop them if they were sent.

The snail mail ones you should be able to intercept by calling first thing in the morning.

Out of interest...Why would you send to all 10 schools at once? Did you have secondaries from all of them already and decided to just complete and send them all in at once?

If it says "Currently being processed" you may have a good chance of halting it by just giving them a call. I doubt they are instantly sent the moment you click send. When tried sending documents on Saturday, the status basically remained as "Currently being processed" until Monday...even for Electronic ones.

Every time that I have sent electronically to one school at a time, it has sent within a minute. (At least the last five schools that I have sent to) Whether or not the school processes it that quickly is another story. Perhaps the snail mail ones are holding up the whole order or something.

Now interfolio is just going crazy...from the 20 or so deliveries that were listed before (only 10 of which were requested and paid for), there are now 37 pending! To schools I didn't even apply to! And some are listed 4 or 5 times...I wasn't really worried before because the ones I actually requested were all electronic and listed correctly...now there are ones that I requested pending 5 times with all three lettes...I realize this is not the end of the world, but I feel like I am already struggling to get in and under a lot of stress, and I am just frustrated that the process has been made so much more difficult by Interfolio!!! I will call them first thing in the morning, I have already emailed the helpdesk, but I fear it will be too late....and even if med schools realize the letter wasnt meant for them, I feel like it makes me look careless and irresponsible...

I overreacted. Everything is fine, though it did not appear fine on my delivery status page. This process really can make you go crazy...Interfolio was extremely helpful and reassuring about what was going on...

sorry to hijack your thread, but how did you get in touch with them? I emailed them yesterday w/ no response, and every time I call their 1877-77FOLIO #, it's busy?

Did they say it was a technical issue on the delivery status page? Becuase i had some troubles yesterday too.

I can't get the search function to work to set up new deliveries. Hopefully it will start working again sometime this afternoon. Also, has anyone else had Interfolio "forget" to send letters?

Seems like interfolio's got some funky problems. They moved to a new location this month but when my LOR sent it to their older address, they somehow misplaced my LOR. When I contacted them, they were very nice and fixed the problem but unfortunately delayed my letter at the same time.

How long was it delayed? My LOR sent it to their older address too (on Monday, i think)

For one of my schools (one of my top choice schools, actually), they said they submitted the LORs electronically, but the school doesn't accept them electronically. I waited like 2 weeks to see if the school would receive them snail mail instead, and then I kept badgering the help people, and they eventually sent the packet priority with no cost to me. So their customer service is pretty good, I think.

It should still be okay. They redirect mail from their old office to their new ones everyday but mine for some strange reason got lost in that process. After calling them, they found it and instantly added it onto my account. Call them end of next week if it does not show up.
