As that nov 1st deadline that my premed office has approaches fast, I wonder if I should stick with them or have them send my stuff to interfolio from now. Has anyone had to wait long for the premed offices at their school to send their letters and stuff? Is the committee letter really vital to a successful application or is it just one of those things that is recommended but not really that important? Oh and does anyone have any experience with the speed of interfolio for sending materials?🙄

Schools that have an account with interfolio have your letters pretty much instantly.

If you are at a large school or any school that actually interviews you for your letter, adcoms will wonder why you didn't use it (and it will work to your negative).

Electronically, Interfolio sends stuff by the next day. Not sure about mail.

I go to the University of Miami so I guess it's considered a big school. They did an interview but it was a pretty weak one.

how do u go about sending your stuff from the premed office to interfolio? and how long does that usually take??

Then you need to use your committee letter, especially since I'm guessing all the Florida schools will be aware of how your school interviews pre-meds (and any potential correlations they may have).

I know almost all (if not all) med schools want you to use the premed office at your school, and if you don't use them, then you have to explain why. I really don't know whether a committee letter is vital or not, so I'm sorry I can't help out there. I can, however, say that Interfolio has a pretty quick turnaround. They usually send off the letters within a few hours of my request. Although, I have had a problem with one of my schools not receiving the letters, but I don't know if that was Interfolio's fault or the school's.

Honestly, I think any premed committee letter i get from that adviser wouldn't be as strong as it could be. In the two times I've met with her she seemed to only discourage me. She seems a bit pessimistic to me. I'm a nurse and she even criticized my patient contact as less than great b/c i choose to work with geriatric patients and do rehab and haven't work in like every possible specialty.

I just had my letter writers send directly to interfolio. My pre-med office has a special deal set up with them.
