Interfolio - professor unwilling to send it to them

So, I asked my professor for a rec letter (he is willing to write me one). I printed out the sheet from Interfolio with instructions how to send it to Interfolio...

then...after went to his office...he basically says "well..just give me individual addresses of med schools you are applying to and I will send it there..that way I know where my letter with my signature is going to"

LOL. he sounded very skeptical and fishy about Interfolio. Anyone in similar situation?? what should I do about it?

I would just try to describe it to him further... Mention that maybe you haven't come up with the exact school list yet. Furthermore, this website will keep the letter completely confidential, it is a trusted website that many many applicants use, and that it's more convenient for him and for you. Good luck!

Personally, all of my professors were fine with it; it's just that two of them had issues with digital signatures, which is apparently a common problem according to interfolio. I hope they fixed it by now.

do you have a premed advisor or office? if so, have them contact the professor alerting them to this service. if still unbudging, consider another letter writer.

I would make sure that the professor really wants to write a letter for you, much less a strong letter. I have found that people are usually overly defensive or skeptical about things they don't want to do, but don't have the integrity to say so explicitly.

I just told him "Okay, I'll let you know in MAY" but dont think I will ask him again. I mean i got A's in both his classes and he knows me well..maybe not THAT well? but well enough...he is just weird. He looks like Howard Stern.

Well then... as other posters above me have said, I'm guessing then that he's not *really* willing to write you a good strong letter. I know this is easier said than done, but I'd try to go find another letter-writer if you can. I mean... if he makes you feel like crap because you asked him to use an up-to-date electronic mailing system although you're feeding him instructions on exactly how to do it?!
