For those of you that use interfolio for you rec letters, how long will the program save them? If we reapply for next cycle can we use it again (as in the same letters as opposed to having our writers resend them?)

It depends on how much you pay...you can buy varying length subscriptions to interfolio

They'll save them for as long as you have an account. I was a re-app, and had no troubles with sending the previous year's LOR's..

Forever. I would guess that even after your account lapses, when you reactivate they will still be there. I highly recommend Interfolio, but hear VirtualEvals is just as good.

I would not bank on them holding your letters forever if you do not have an active account. I believe they do get rid of them at some point.

I used interfolio an was very happy. They still have my letters and that was four years ago, but my account is still active.

Would it be wise to go ahead and set up my Interfolio account so I can go ahead and get letters sent there when they're ready?

I think it's one of those won't hurt, but won't really help?

I'd wait until shortly before so I could buy the shortest subscription. It's a very fast process. I registered, paid, requested letters in 10 minutes.

Correct me if I'm wrong... I have the letters sent to Interfolio and then it's all orchestrated through them from there?

You just check off which schools you want to send them to and which delivery method. This is after forwarded the letters to interfolio in the first place that is. Click send and pay your fee. Very easy and worth the price to pay.

All,

My name is Mike, a current member of staff here at Interfolio, Inc. I monitor these forums from time to time and I thought I would stop by and clarify a few things.

At Interfolio, we can house all of your confidential documents in one place. They are digitized so that you can send them as many times as you like to as many schools as you like. There is no need to request multiple letters from the same writer. We can also store transcripts, CVs, resumes, and more.

You are in complete control of your credential file, choosing which documents to send to which institutions. There is no need to deliver your whole academic portfolio every time.

Also, to answer @JAWSCIENCE: when your account expires, you still have five years to renew your account before Interfolio may delete any of your stored documents. Your files will remain on our servers during this time, so that you can renew over the next five years.

I always available for further questions at [email protected] or 202.223.3358 x 207.

Thanks!
Mike

Huh. That's really good to know.

Interfolio is great...it takes a lot of hassle out of the application process.

I used it to send my letters to AAMC for AMCAS. It lets you add your AAMC ID to the shipment, too, so that you can be positive that your letters get matched with your file. I can't respond for SOPHAS, but it lets you input an address if it doesn't have the information already in their system (like it already has the info for AAMC and most of the DO schools I applied to), so I'm sure you could get it to SOPHAS, too. Mike, I hope you don't feel like I'm treading on your territory, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to let them know my experience.

Interfolio can deliver your files to any institution that you specify (including AMCAS and SOPHAS). We have a multitude of delivery options for you to choose, so that you can send your documents in whatever format the receiver requires.

For those still on the fence, here is a full list of our delivery protocols: http://www.interfolio.com/product/dossier/deliverypricing.cfm

@The Poet Sings, @da Vincis World, @MSUSpartan642, @Kevon, @JAWSCIENCE - Thanks putting in a good word for us -- I appreciate it! 👍

Cheers,
Mike
