Does anyone happen to know how to find out which states allow out of state students to complete APPEs in the state? I am looking to do rotations in various states, and have tried calling and emailing each state's board of pharmacy and have gotten no where. I have tried reading laws for each board and don't see anything regarding whether students from out of states schools can complete their final year of rotation there. Google just pulls up individual board sites, which is where I began this process. Any knowledge, or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am in California and we take students from any state. About the law, please know that: if the law did not ban you in writing, then pharmacy board did not have a law that ban you from doing rotation in the state.

Just like driving, you can make U-turn at many street lights. If they have a sign that shows: No U-turn, then you can not do U-turn. If they have no such sign, you can do U-turn.

Similarly, you can do rotations in many states. If they have a law that shows: No out-of-state student, then you can not do rotation. If they have no such law, you can do rotation in their state.

Since they have no law in law book about banning students from out of state, you can therefore do rotations in the state you like until they put down the law in writing to ban you.

That's what I learned about pharmacy law. We often come up with theoretical law but if such law was not debated, discussed and put down in writing in official law book, such law does not exist. Therefore, if you don't find such law in the law book, such law does not exist and that means you can do rotations in states you like until the law says no.

I did rotation in multiple states and out of country when i was a student, you just need to have an intern license for the state you want a rotation at, so apply a few months ahead

That was very helpful! Thank you!

Thanks! I was aware of this and am licensed in the states I want to do rotations in, from what I have gathered my school has reasons they are prohibiting certain states but I do not know what those reasons are.
