Intern year!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Open up wide and get ready to drink from the fire hydrant turned all the way up to 11.

Do NOT start reading pediatrics review books like crazy. Do NOT start memorizing the Lane like a maniac.

Do realize that most people will expect nothing from you except a good work ethic and a humble enthusiasm to learn.

Do make the most of the last few months of 4th year, it can be so much fun. Residency is, too, but with less free time.

Congrats on matching!

Also: enjoy your time now. Take a well earned break and relax. Enjoy life. Visit friends and family. You want to be well rested mentally and physically when you start, and the treadmill will be going fairly fast when your feet hit.

Why do you say do "NOT" start reading review books? It's understandable if it's important to stay open/flexible and learn well in the clinical environment, but why would that mean learning the actual textual info isn't important.

For the same reason that trying to learn a part of medical school syllabus the summer before you start is not very efficient. You could and it may help you out (but probably not) but you'd be better or enjoying it and coming into it mentally and physically fresh and well rested.

I guess that's a reasonable analogy. Thanks for the input.
