I've always enjoyed hearing stories from physicians that I know who travel overseas and participate in medical missions. I've heard of cataract missions for ophtho guys, operation smile for oral surgeons/anesthesiologists/etc., and primary care missions to places like Haiti after the earthquake.
Are there any such similar things in PM&R? I admit ignorance on the logistics and implementation of international medicine, and I imagine that any type of caregiver can find a way to serve people abroad in isolated/underserved areas, but are there established PM&R organizations that participate in such things?
