International medical students: Question about residency

Hi, sorry if this question has been answered before. I've heard that IMG have a hard time matching for residencies, and if they do, they are only admitted to family medicine or non-surgical residencies. But what about international students that get their MD degree from a USA med school? do they also have a hard time? are they admitted to surgery residencies?

Without permanent resident status ("green card") you will have a hard time finding a residency program that will support your student visa. If you check their individual websites you see that many will not interview or rank applicants without a green card.
