Hi,

Does anyone know which osteopathic programs have the strongest international medicine programs, linkages, or study opportunities? Does any school have a marked reputation for social medicine? Are there any osteopathic programs where someone can do a course of study similar to what is available at Harvard (such as pursuing Ph.D. in medical anthropology)?

Gotta watch out with osteopathic medicine abroad. I heard (no sources atm to confirm) that Osteopathics isn't equivalent to allopathics like it is here in the states.

Edit: Straight from wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osteopathic_medicine

"Although U. S. osteopathic medical physicians currently may obtain licensure in 47 countries, osteopathic curricula in countries other than the United States differs. D.O.s outside the U. S. are known as "osteopaths" and their scope of practice excludes allopathic medical therapies and relies more exclusively on osteopathic manipulative medicine and other alternative medical modalities."

Its almost like listening to a premed on SDN.

Practice rights are different then International aid/mission trips/clerkships. Nobody turns down free medical care. And DMU has a program, mostly in central america and africa.

Now I know I have been accused of being a DMU cheerleader like JPH is for PCOM, but when you come from a great school, its tough not to boast. So deal with it.😎

You're sharp and witty banter never ceases to amuse me. You think you're funny, and well that's all that matters isn't it. Atleast I lent some information, and for a brief faq for the guy I think wiki is a fine enough source. If you have a problem wiki is an open encyclopedia. You can edit the info as you see fit. Other then that JP, holla' at PA. I'm from the Pocono's.

I understand.

Incorrect information is better than no information, right?

Poconos suck.

👍

I thought I read somewhere that DOs have reciprocity in NZ/Oz after jumping through appropriate legal/immigration hurdles.

That might be something interesting to verify. Seriously, NZ is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Things are rapidly changing in great ways with regard to the profession. 👍

As for NZ, I can't wait to visit someday.
