I know this topic has been discussed before, but when I did an SND search it seems like all of the information is outdated and nonspecific.... I was wondering if anyone has recently done an international rotation that they would recommend to others preferably in Latin/South America (a spanish speaking country)... I have used the general search engines, AMA/AMSA, etc but was wondering if anyone had good first hand experience with programs they could recommend...thanks

I am leaving for Cuenca, Ecuador in 3 weeks for a 1 month surgery elective with Universidad de Cuenca. If you are interested I can give you some feedback when I come back in around 2 months...

Has anybody ever done any kind of elective rotation in Vietnam? I think I've read it somewhere on here about somebody doing one at one time.

Tons of Aussie students go to Vietnam for electives every year. They love it. You can do and see so much. The doctors love the visiting students as well. I think they are able to practice their spanish which is a bonus for them.

What??? Australians going to Vietnam to speak Spanish?

Didn't you know that Vietnam has one of the biggest hispanic populations in the world? It's even mandatory for the children to learn it in school. 😀

I think we need to build a bigger fence to keep those Vietnamese from sneaking across our southern border.

 No, mate!! I was just saying that many Aussie med students go there for electives. I was just responding to nabeya asking about Vietnam electives. But on an aside, there is talk of Mexico teaching students only Vietnamese and Vietnam teaching kids only Spanish. That is the word on the street. 😀
