Hi everybody,
This is my first time on SDN and I had a question. I am currently a medical student and plan to go into Emergency Med. I am at an American medical school in Chicago, but I am an international (Indian) student. I am not a permanent resident or a citizen of the US. My USMLE step 1 score is right in the average for EM and I dont have any stellar extracurrciular activities. I was wondering how difficult it would me for someone like me to match EM? And if someone had any suggestions as to the programs which are friendly to international students?

Shouldn't be that bad... apply broadly and you should get in somewhere. You will still be a US medical applicant, which is a huge advantage over being an IMG/FMG. A lot of places may only offer the J1, but getting accepted shouldn't be an issue.
