Hello everyone,

Does anyone know English speaking universities (USA, Europe or Canada) that accept International student transfer from a middle eastern university (a 5-year education program to get a DDS/DMD instead of pre-dental and graduate programs) as the ones the states require applying as a freshman all over again which is a big waste of time..

Many thanks,

In Canada, NOT one.

There is a major difference between the education system for dentistry between "USA and Canada" and the other parts of the world as there (USA and Canada) they work on a pre-dental (4-year undergraduate) and then graduate which is another 4 years after passing the DAT that's why I was wondering if anyone knows any university that teaches in English and accepts the BDS 5-year program International Transfer...
Anyways, thanks Adversary!

You have to take NBDE boards (US) apply to various schools that offer an International Dental Program, and do another 2-3 years more of studies. It's almost like repeating the dental school. Then you have a DDS. Again this won't give you the right to practice, you need to obtain citizenship or some sort of visa (work?) to actually practice in the USA. Dunno about Canada though. I think they have the AFK exam held only once a year. You use that mark and apply to various schools ... and again 2 years of more education. Same applies for permission to work in Canada. Hope this clears things.

If you know that already, then you should know that with such a difference, you cannot "transfer" from a middle east dental school to a Canadian/US dental school. You can, after finishing dental school and obtaining your BDS, apply for advanced standing, etc. in the US and Canada where you will go through vigorous testing and/or schooling in order to practice in North America. However, it's tough because we do not want the market flooded with dentists, especially with the large amount of locals "cranked" out in private US dental schools.
