Care of the High Risk Neonate, by Marshall H. Klaus, Avroy A. Fanaroff is a really good book in getting in a lot of concepts you'll need to know for the NICU. It's a bit of reading though but it reads smoothly.
Neonatology : Management, Procedures, On-Call Problems, Diseases, Drugs (LANGE Clinical Science)- is also a good book to keep in your pocket during those nights on call. It's very practical to have at hand and gives you approaches to common things you will see (such as bad blood gases, green aspirates, tachypnea, etc.).
I would recommend both these books to you. Try reading som of the Klaus and Fanaroff prior to residency. And make sure to pay REAL GOOD ATTENTION to your NRP class.
