I graduated DS in another country and after spent a year treating patients under supervision of a dentist at different clinics. No one was watching me, I was a licensed dentist, but I was able to consult. Had a few lectures at the University, passed a final exam at the very end and got a certificate. It was called an Internship in that country.
I was filling my application here and started to question the term: what if ADCOM people think it was some kind of observation/standing with the towel kind of experience? It felt like residence to me
What people usually do during dental internship?
Please help

Make sure to elaborate on what your duties where and how much (or how little) supervision you received. ADCOMs won't worry so much about your diction if you mislabel residency v. internship. In the USA, the first year after medical school is called internship year while the 3-7 years (including internship year) are called residency. The terms can often been used interchangeably especially by those who are not aware of the system.

Dentistry doesn't use the term "internship". What you described of just observing and standing is called "shadowing", and what you described of what you actually did sounded like residency. I would use the term residency, but be sure to give a little blurb about your duties, responsibilities, procedures preformed, and supervision level you received. ADCOMs are smart, they won't confuse your skill level if you be sure to give further explanation.
