internships with 5-6 electives

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was told by a resident there are a couple out there with that many electives that you could do elsewhere?

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Transitional year programs, pretty much - I don't think you will find this in any medicine or surgery prelim. TY's are exquisitely difficult to match, since they are often for rads/derm/ophthalmology prelims who want a relatively cush intern year.

I don't think most residency programs allow you to have more than a month of away elective time (since it wouldn't make much sense to pay you to work for them if you were at a different hospital for much of the year). However, there are internships that allow for elective time.
Since you're a DO (judging from your prior posts) I'd say look at the traditional rotating internship programs. They are not as competitive to get as MD transitional years are but often have a similar structure. Many of them will give you several months of electives and some will allow for a month of an away elective. But choose carefully, because some of them have much more rigid schedules than others do.
