Ok, so I haven't actually gotten an interview yet because OSU-COM doesn't start inviting for awhile but since all other parts of my application are finished, that is what I have to worry about. I think about a possible interview everyday, wondering how I can possibly be ready for every single question....I spend tons of time skimming through every news website imaginable trying to stay on top of current events but I don't think I retain anything. I'm such a perfectionist that I just keep thinking about actually getting an interview and becoming this nervous wreck that looks like a complete idiot, staring blankly at the wall trying to think of any answer at all to pop into my mind. I guess I'm so scared because I had a horrible pre-med commitee mock interview. It was basically a scare the hell out of you, one hour grill session and I left feeling two feet tall....

I was just wondering if any of you had any advice for me?? If you have had an interview, what did you do to prepare and how did you know you were ready??? Most importantly, how did you stay calm and present yourself in a way that served you justice? Any help would be very appreciated!!!!!

I wouldn't lose your mind over this. Everyone gets nervous for their interviews but you will survive them. Some can even be enjoyable! I went on seven 'views last year and don't remember anyone asking me about current events or any incredibly complex questions. It was really relaxed, generally. I actually got lost on my way to one interview and was half an hour late because of it; I walked right into a presentation, feeling like a total jackass, but the dean of admissions was so understanding and my interviewers got a kick out of hearing my story of ending up in cow country instead of the medical school. Yup, I even got accepted to that one! So don't worry too much. Just go in there and smile and be genuine and gracious.

Yeah from what everyone tells me, most interviews are very friendly and enjoyable. I have yet to go on one but I find solace in what those that have went through it tell me. Don't focus too much about the current events, especially reallly specific stuff. I'm just going to go over some of my answers the night before to the bread and butter, generic questions like "why DO", "why medicine", "explain what osteopathic medicine means to you", ect. I know that all of us to some degree are obsessive, nuerotic pre-meds but try not to worry too much about interviews because I don't think they will be that stressful. Read up on the interview feedback thing on here, it should quell some fears and let you know what to expect. good luck
