I have an interview at CVS tomorrow for a tech job. I have no pharmacy experience and this will be my first interview ever.

what should I wear? shirt/tie/slacks/nice shoes good enough?

Should I bring a resume? I didn't submit or was asked for one when I applied

What kinds of questions will they ask and what should I ask?

also what's it like to work as a tech at CVS?

THANKS

Yes to all of the above.

Should I bring a resume? I didn't submit or was asked for one when I applied

I did not bring one to my interview, but it can't hurt.

What kinds of questions will they ask and what should I ask?

Them: Work experience, availability, why CVS and why a technician

You: wage, training to become a tech, get a feel of the people who work there, and explain your interest in pharmacy

also what's it like to work as a tech at CVS?

This is dependent on many factors. How busy the store is, how good your co-workers are, etc...
sometimes having great people to work with is enough to get you past the less favorable ordeals of retail pharmacy.

THANKS

Good luck!

Answers above in bold.

Hey, i just started working for a CVS two weeks ago. I had plenty of tech experience (15 yrs) but they have a training program that walks you through the job. i work for a high volume store and it is NUTS but the store you want to work for could be different. good luck!

This is slightly unrelated, but how does one get a Tech job in the first place? I got Pharmacy Technician Certified this month, but have yet to receive anything in the mail. I am from CA and I and wondering if I need my CA license before I can begin to work as a Tech. Any advice would help. Thanks. I have no previous experience in Pharmacy, but was in a pre-pharmacy club in college and have attended several pre-pharmacy symposiums and seminars.

Expand. Were you given a reason why?

Nope. I thought the interview went well. I dressed nice, answered all their questions well, and he said he was even impressed that I was nationally certified. I was told that they had a few more interviews and I would be given a call the following week but never received one.

You interviewed on the 12th and they said they'd call you the following week. I would wait until it's actually the following week before you decide if you didn't get the job.

I meant the end of the week, not the following week. My bad. I interviewed Monday.

I wouldn't give up just yet. Give them a call Monday, at the very least you can get a reason as to why you didn't get the job. I would imagine they just got busy and weren't able to give you a call.

you didnt do anything foolish like ask a lot of questions about the sketchy and dirty business practices of the CEO did you?

It all depends on where you live. In NJ, you are not required to be certified to be hired by CVS as a pharmacy tech. I had ZERO experience and I was hired. I will need to go through their training program though.

You will definitely get that job in the hospital (I am assuming non-pharmacy). Hospitals need lots of volunteers.

Inpatient.

Well, you should at least know a little bit about the institution- so read up on their "mission" or whatever because then you can talk about how you will fit in somehow based on your experience, skills, work ethic, etc. I usually just pick a few key words and then incorporate them into an answer. You also should express your interest in learning the different technician roles (some fill the robots or pyxis, some make IVs, some deliver, etc.). Find out which "role" they are looking for or if they just want someone that is versatile because then you can talk about how you're a fast learner or something like that. Also, as with any pharmacy job, emphasize teamwork. I have found that employers like to hire people who are going to get along with others and enrich the working environment over someone who "knows it all". Be friendly and express your interest and don't be too arrogant about your "skills". Just emphasize good work ethic, ability to keep up with a fast pace, and then throw in a little comment about whatever mission they have and how you can contribute to it somehow. Cheesy, I know....but it has worked everytime for me.
