When you interview for fellowship or your first attending job, are there any unspoken rules about how you are supposed to dress? Are you expected to dress the same way we all did for residency interviews?

You'll still be poor as dirt though as a resident...

So the diamond shoes would have to be a bootleg :p

Same as you did for residency interviews. A job interview is a job interview. Doesn't matter if its for residency, fellowship, or a hospitalist/private practice position.

I went shirt and tie with a sport coat. Didn't wear the black suit like for residency interviews. Seemed appropriate.

Definitely need to have as strongly positive Swarovski sign as possible.

In all honesty, I've got to interviews wearing a suit and whatnot but also attended interviews wearing slacks and a nice, untucked shirt.

What you bring to the table in terms of pedigree, skill and personality matters most.
