ok guys (and girls) i have to apologize if this is stupid, but what kind of bag do you bring with you to an interview? *im a girl* i know some ppl have brought briefcases or thier nice leather laptop case (neither of which i have) i have my suit all figured out but i have no idea what kind of stuff to bring with me. i have this nice leather folder from my undergrad (Cornell) but um, it clashes with my clothes, should i still bring it? (its navy suit is black) thanks everyone!

Bring a murakami, or even better, just a portfolio, one that doesn't clash.

My pre-health advisor told us we could either bring the laptop-type bag/briefcase OR you could have a purse (that matches your outfit better) and carry a leather portfolio--equipped with a legal pad--in your hand. I got one for like $10 at office depot, and I've seen them at Staples, Target, Walmart, etc etc as well. Just be wary that some stores (i.e. office depot) call them "padfolios" in case you have trouble finding where they are!

The important thing is not to carry too much--i.e. shoulderbag AND purse--otherwise it looks like you're trying to move in! (Makes med schools sound like the reluctant would-be boyfriend, doesn't it... )

Most of the students I was with only had a portfolio. Girls had a purse also. I was the only one with a black/laptop type bag and no portfolio.

You'll be receiving lots of literature from the school ... it wouldn't be fun to carry around lots of loose papers on your tour! 😉 Also, you will definitely want to bring a notepad in the portfolio to take notes throughout the day.

thanks for the responses guys, i think im going to take this bigass leather purse thingy i have that even has a special umbrella holder! im going to bring my leather cornell folder even tho it clashes kinda... whatevs.

if i'm not mistaken, Murakami is the louis vuitton purses that have the pink flowers (or is it butterflies) superimposed on the traditional monogram canvas. supposed to be very rare and very limited edition (so most of the ones you see on the street is actually fake).

oh yeah youre right, its the one w/ the smiley pink flower. thanx 4 letting me know. 🙂
