What do you guys think about the short-sleeve shirts for the interview?

Especially for schools in Florida, Cali, etc...

First off, I'm not a guy so I don't really know what I'm talking about but..
I was initially thinking it'd be a bad idea, but then I did some googling and I changed my mind. I would still have a suit jacket but you can take it off and it looks good..with a tie though.

I'm in California, been through a slew of interviews and now getting ready for fellowships.

Short sleeves in a proffesional setting are already kinda iffy but for an interview? THey only bring a few images to mind

The choice is yours.

But if you can somehow transcend these looks into some sort of Steve McQueen or Serge Gainsbourg look then all the props in the world.

Well, the jacket will be on, hiding the sleeves of the shirt.

Think there will be occasions where I'll need to take the jacket off?

I really wouldn't do that if I were you. I live in California (don't say Cali at your interview either lol) and it's really not that hot. And it's not humid here either. Pacific and UCSF in SF are pretty cool and sometimes foggy (even in the summer) so there's no need for short sleeves!

Why do you feel the need to wear a short sleeve?

Trust me I’ve considered the same thing being from Florida, but I think it’s best to stick with long sleeves. Most of the time when you are interviewing and going on a tour it will be in doors anyway.

To be honest I highly Doubt they will even care. Everyone tries to dress super sharp but at the end of the day, I don’t think it matters as long as you go in formally dressed and conservative.

Schools are air conditioned. Stick with long sleeves
