So I know a dark suit is always the right choice. But can you also look professional in another color, such as a olive skirt suit? Would this be a thumbs up or down?
Guaranteed to stand out!

The question is this: Do you want to stand out because of what you wear? or because of your CV?

You'd probably be fine with most people, but the risk would be that someone at the programs at which you interviewed would think it unprofessional. It would really only take one person to get a stick up their butt to make it more difficult for you.

It's a risk, and as I said, you'd probably be fine... but I wouldn't do it. Keep the olive one for professional functions after you're in.

just my 2 cents.

Depends on where you are interviewing.

The slit up the skirt and lesser professional top cut would be more of an issue. Dark conservative colors are fine, but go with a professional cut.

I think an olive suit is fine. Remember to carry the required black leather binder though.

I wish we would just issue everyone uniform coveralls for interviews. Cheaper and less anxiety provoking. 'Course for most EM folks interviews is the last time you'll ever wear a tie.

Agreed with Roja. Olive is fine - but that particular suit looks a little avant-garde to me.

I had two suits I alternated, dark purple with a lilac silk shirt and dark brown with a blue collared shirt. I saw many ladies also sporting similar pretty dark but not black or navy colored suits. I don't think anyone at most EM programs even notices what you wear unless it's weird in some way.

So I think you could definitely wear olive if you like that color, but I don't know about that suit. It shows a lot of skin. I would go with collared shirt or high neckline silk/classy tank under a jacket, and skirt with a less revealing slit or pants suit.

If you come with those legs YOU'RE IN. Unless of course, some of my legless colleagues are around when you show up then YOU'RE OUT. Oh, and if my wife happened to be around then YOU'RE _ _ _ (fill in the 3 letter blank)!

BTW, nice legs.

I agree with Roja here. That slit up the front cries "look at me!!", and not in a you're going to be a great resident sort of way. I'd say be more conservative in the cut of the suit.

Good luck! :luck:
