I'm not sure what i'm wearing yet but I was wondering what you bring a long with you. I'm a girl, so is it okay to carry my bag? Do we need to bring some sort of portfolio? What are you guys wearing to your interviews?
post a picture if you can! I'm bored...haha

Well, you should wear a conservative suit - either pants or skirt with a blazer. Banana Republic and Ann Taylor are both good places to find a nice suit. If you get one that is not super trendy, you'll be able to use it for a while.
Do girls usually wear suits too? I'm not planning on it. It's going to be hot and I never look good in suits lol.
You are supposed to wear "professional attire" which I believe means a suit. I was quite surprised to see a girl in black pants and a short-sleeved white shirt with ruffles at my interview last week. I didn't wear a "traditional" suit but it was a matching skirt and jacket nonetheless.
I dunno, but I dont think "professional attire" necessarily means a suit. Where did you interview last week? Was she the only girl not in a suit?
You may think what you want, but that doesn't change the fact that professional attire is a suit. There are some candidates who don't wear a suit, but they are few and far between, and most of them don't make the cut.

Alright, well i dont know what adcom you're a member of, but I doubt anyone in the history of pharmacy interviews has ever been denied admission b/c they didnt wear a suit (assuming they were otherwise appropriately attired).

I interviewed at Howard and yes she was the only one not wearing a suit.

If you plan to, please let me know when and where. 😀
Well, I wasnt planning on wearing it but i was gonna carry it with me just in case.
Are you excited for the Mercer interview on Oct 8? The SDNers should take a picture together....or something......
You're probably right that they've probably never been denied admission just because they didn't wear a suit. However, the type of individual who wouldn't wear a suit to the interview is more likely to be someone who isn't as detail-oriented and prepared for the interview process. A suit just exudes professionalism, and that's something they WILL evaluate you on. Shortcuts won't get you anywhere.
would a pinstripe suit with a sky blue shirt and a matching skyblue/silver tie be too adventurous?
i'm afraid that skyblue is too bright of a color and may seem informal...although the shirt and tie match PERFECTLY!
While it seems really nice, I think it's usually best to stay on the conservative side. do you have a picture of the suit/shirt/tie?
forgive the crappy pictures...i just snapped a couple right now and uploaded them

edit: you can't really see the pin stripes....they are really thin grey ones that you probably wouldn't notice if you were across the room
That suit looks totally appropriate.
I'm sad because I got a nice, expensive suit last winter, but I've gained so much weight I doubt I fit in it. Besides, I had my mom's friend hem the sleeves for me, and she didn't do a great job. My parents will **** a brick though if I try to wear anything but that expensive suit.
I can totally relate to you. I hate gaining any amount of weight (even 2-3 pounds) and don't like it when my clothes don't fit (especially if they were loose before) right. Please don't take this the wrong way, but maybe you could try to lose a few pounds so you look and feel better? That's what I'm trying to do too! 😳
Easier said than done! 🙂 If I don't have any interviews until February, that should be no problem. If they happen in the next month or two though... time for a new suit!
I love NY&Co, but I've never noticed suits there - just nice pants, no jackets.
i had a friend who interviewed at tsu a couple of years back, and she did not dress professionally. i don't think she even wore nice pants or a nice shirt. she went casual becasue she was trying to make a statment that she was bitter against the school for accepting her the year before, but then retracting her acceptance last minute.
anyway, they asked her about why she was not dressed appropriately and what she thinks that says about a person in a professional setting like pharmacy, and she replied that people shouldn't be judged on physical appearance and some people just don't have the means to afford a nice suit (even though that wasn't her case)
she thought she was definitely gonna get rejected and didn't care at that point, but ironically, she got into tsu that same year with her smart alek remarks. now she swears that they like people who stand up for their beliefs and aren't afraid to talk back, cause she had a total attitude problem the whole time!
okay, just a story i wanted to share.
it seems like alot of people wear dark colors, such as black and navy. you think it would be a problem if i wore grey?
Whats ur opinion on a medium grey suit with pinstripes? Also, is it better to wear a skirt suit or a pant suit????
Should girls wear their hair up or down?
Is it better to wear a skirt or pants?
Is it better to wear a skirt or pants?
personally, i think either would work as long as it looked professional. also keep in mind skirt length.
Same here. I am returning them 🙂I bought mid-heel pointed shoes.. black..
I'm afraid maybe it's a little too pointy at the end![]()
