Have an interview on Friday. Is suit and tie(bow) appropriate?

Dark suit with a tie is the norm. Not so sure I would wear a bowtie though...

A bow tie would be so cool! But you should probably wear a tie.
Good Luck on your interview

Only certain people can get away with a bowtie...
Although cool, I would recommend something less "LOOK AT ME" and more traditional.

Actually, for a guy, I think you should wear a normal tie, but make it a little (really just a little) more colorful than necessary--it'll show a splash of personality and make you stand out a bit more from everyone else dressed in muted colors all over.

I have a black suite, with a bright red tie...is that a bit over the top?

I think you should go with something a little less cheesy valentines day... maybe a pale pink or blue- I think pastels look great on men, especially with a crisp white shirt.

What of a pure black suit with a white shirt and a black tie? Just keeping it simple. Assuming for a black guy, no offense but i'm black and certain color looks better than others...?

I wore a taupe suit with a white shirt and a gold, black and white tie. I know we're all POOR students, but it was so worth it to me to go into Men's Wearhouse, tell them my budget, tell them what I needed the suit for and have them help me select something. They spent so much time with me and I really did look good by the time they were done. (I went a little over-budget, but being well-dressed really helped my confidence level in the interview.)

There are other places that offer similar services. If you're going to wear a bowtie to an interview, you need some advice.

I certainly see nothing wrong with black suit-white shirt-black tie combo (though I like men who wear bright ties, like red, and dislike metallic ties intensely), and Will Smith is a living proof that it works for black men too. And the people I have interviewed too... Though I think gray suits look awesome with darker skin.

have anyone of you ever hear about a person going into an interview wearing a labcoat? (obviously he would be risking his invitation, but comical)

LOL a labcoat. that would have been comical for sure. it would seem like that person just got out of work and didn't really prepare for the formal interview.

It screams arrogance to me... as though the individual is skipping straight to the white coat ceremony... cocky is the worst thing you can portray!!!!

Exactly ... we have to wear lab coats for some labs and I wear it, but I feel like I don't deserve it yet, so I don't enjoy it 😀 ... but I guess after the White Coat ceremony it'll be ok for me to feel good about it

I agree with wearing a "normal tie" that is slightly more colorful. I personally think that solid dark ties are to plain and boring...a reflection of you personality perhaps. You gotta stick out (no bow ties) and feel confident. I wore a black suit with subtle pin stripes. Also make sure to get a hair cut...maybe like a week before the interview to allow for that grow in period.
