Interview/away timing

Hi everyone,
PM&R hopeful new to SDN here. Congrats to those that just matched! I'm currently planning my fourth year and have a couple questions. I am considering doing two away rotations and one at my home program, but the way my schedule is right now it would be a lot easier to do one of the aways later in the year. How late in the year would it still be possible to do a rotation for the purpose of securing an interview at that program? Also when do most programs start holding interviews?

I didn't do any away rotations, but many of my friends did. Several of my friends were able to do their interviews while they were rotating as late as November, so that'd be an option if you're crunched for time.

As for when programs begin interviews, the earliest interview I had was 10/8, and several of my invitations had early October dates available, but I was doing a required rotation at the time so only scheduled 3 interviews in October. I scheduled 7 interviews in November, and 6 in December. I cancelled my last 2 interviews in January because I was in a holiday mood and didn't want to do any more 🙂

Do your always in the summer to mid fall. You want to have at least one rotation in prior to applications being due (get those LORs from pm&r docs.) If rotating in Nov, that may be a bit late. In an ideal world I'd say July, August, and September.
