Do most schools offer you an area to store the belongings you won't need during the interview.. i.e. a coat, umbrella?

Has anybody had to interview during times of inclement weather? How did you dress to/from the school?

You should probably carry your high school diploma with you

This is an interview, not a war zone.

You're going to be there for 5 hours MAX, 3 of which are indoor, not 3 years in Afghanistan

Because of the reason above, you are dressing to impress, not dressing to survive. I'm sure you'll do fine in a skirt (if you are a girl) or a nice 3 layer suit (undershirt, shirt, jacket) for a few minutes outside even if it was below 0.

I'm sure you'll win your interviewers over with all that charm...

Pretty sure it's completely normal to carry an umbrella if there's a downpour...valid question..take your bad attitudes somewhere else

Yes, usually the secretary will take it and lock it in her/his office.

Call and ask. Some schools will accommodate you and have storage areas to put your luggage. Other schools may not have space and you don't want to inconvenience them.

Wow, I thought this was a perfectly appropriate question. Give the guy a break, seriously. Is this how you'll treat your patients when they ask a seemingly stupid or naive question?

At Pittsburgh, they gave us a room to put our stuff in and it was locked--this was mentioned in the interview letter so we could anticipate it. If there's inclement weather, you'll likely not be the only one wearing a coat that needs to be stored somewhere. I'm sure the school will accommodate you. At UNLV and Midwestern, there wasn't an official area to put stuff, and I only had a laptop case, but there were plenty of places/rooms to put stuff should people need to.

Dress how you feel you need to. The faculty at the school are still human. If it's raining or snowing, they're not going to look down upon you for wearing a heavy coat or bringing an umbrella. If they do, don't go to that school--those aren't the kind of faculty you want to be around. You'll be okay, whatever you do. I know it's easy to freak out about every detail, but just act normal, and think normal... it's not (or shouldn't be) a sub-human experience.

best response w/o being a jerk 👍

Pitt, NYU, Penn, Temple: All had a conference room or office where you could leave a suitcase or bag in case you were traveling. This seems perfectly common among applicants.

For bad weather, bring an umbrella or coat. For a winter coat, I would recommend a nicer jacket like a peacoat or leather jacket or northface or overcoat. I wouldn't wear your favorite football team's jacket or anything. You are in a professional setting...

I wouldn't wear a Northface one personally. I'd keep outer wear professional like a nice pea coat.

A northface is black, I don't see why not. But, you could be right, it may not be formal enough...especially since you are already dressed up.

Also, I would keep the formality with any gloves or hats too. I would NOT wear that Coors Light beanie you won for free from some bar if its snowing out on your interview day 🙄

LOL the beanie would go so well for beer pong afterwards!

Yeah I don't know if it really matters if someone wore Northface or not. In my mind though, if you're already suited up, minus well keep it going and get a nice scarf and jacket.

Agreed. I think as long as its formal, its perfectly fine to bring a coat and umbrella to an interview.
