Hello All,
I was perusing the interview threads and decided to compile a list of questions that I thought I would ponder before my own interview cycle, which is still a bit down the road. So, for all of you nontrads out there, with hectic schedules, that STILL have interviews coming up...I know it's "a little later" in the cycle, I thought I'd throw these questions out there, all nice and compiled from interview threads of schools that I'm interested in, for you.
Maybe answering one of these correctly will be the magic response for you!
You have enough on your minds, you don't have to look these up thread by thread, I've done it for ya! Good luck. Stay calm. Enjoy the process. Be happy with your interview invitation, it's an accomplishment in and of itself! Be sharp and stay on your toes from the moment you get onto campus until you hop in your car and peel away!
This is by no means exhaustive, and it's not created to make you stress, quite the opposite. Be yourselves, but be prepared.
Signed,
Lookin' out for ya,
Doctor 712
Here goes...
What would you do if your patient needs a blood transfusion and refuses?
What are your (3) greatest strengths and (3) greatest weaknesses?
What is a moral dilemma facing doctors?
What is your greatest failure?
What relationships have most affected you?
Tell me about yourself in 5 minutes?
Tell me something I can't get from your AMCAS?
Why do I chose medicine since healthcare is going down the drain and doctors are paid less and are less respected?
If you were the President how would you handle the healthcare environment?
What kind of environment would you want to practice?
What books have you read lately or are currently reading?
Why should i help you get into X medical school?
Why clinical medicine and not research?
Looking ahead at your retirement dinner party, what would others say on your behalf?
Do you agree with the sentiment among many student organizations that pharamaceutical companies ought to stay off campus, and away from med students? Why?
If you had one hour to do anything you wanted to do, what would you choose to do?
What was an ethical dilemma someone you know had?
Which is your favorite book?
Your patient has extremely high blood pressure, but he refuses to take his medication because of its side effects (sexual dysfunction). What do you do?
What is the most important trait in a doctor?
What will you be doing in 15yrs? Why MD and not public health, nurse, etc?
What traits do you think you've inherited from your mother and father?
Biggest problem in healthcare/ what do you think should be done about it?
What is the Biopsychosocial model?
How do you feel you resonate with the college's mission statement?
If you were called by the state penitentiary and asked to come to an execution by lethal injection to perform/observe/confirm death, would you go?
Is there anything that I did not ask that you would like me to present to the committee?
What would you want me to tell the committee on your behalf?
What is the role of women in medicine and how has it changed?
That's it. FEEL FREE to add to this in red and keep the list going...
(like the admissions list!) good
