Hey guys,

Hope everyone is having a happy and safe holiday season. I have been blessed to receive a couple of interview invites for early next year. It is my first time, and hopefully the last, applying to medical school. I am non-traditional in many ways, including being an ESL student and career-changer. I was looking for advice and insights about common interview questions. For disclosure purposes, I had a constructive feedback session with a school that offered it after declining to interview me. They emphasized that I need to show more "passion" for medicine and work on "direct" patient care. I genuinely enjoy helping people and my brother is also a physician, but that seemed inadequate in their view. Where I grew up, medical school is a six year program right after high school, and admission is almost exclusively based on grades. The other point they brought up is direct patient contact. I happen to work on the front desk at a busy clinic, but they recommended that I get certified as a CNA or EMT in order to work closer with patients. I will try to figure out some of those things, but my main concern now is how to approach such questions if and when they arise in my interview(s). Medical school applications are very competitive, and I really do not want to squander my humbling opportunity that I have been working on for over a decade. Sorry for the lengthy post. Any useful feedback and guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you.
