Hi everyone,

why should we cancel interview dates just because they conflict with other dates?

So -- why not use this forum to trade dates :

I have an interview at Indiana University scheduled for December 12th -- I wonder if I could trade it with anyone for November 14th date.. (among other dates!)

I also won't mind trading my Duke date with someone.

PM if me if you are interested. I got this idea from the ENT forums.

anyway -- just thought i'd give it a try.
thanks

p.s. I just edited the note

I am interested in switching with someone for a Long Island College Interview date. I would like to interview on November 11, 2005. Please let me know if some can take my January 13, 2006 date. PM me if any of you are interested!

I currently have an interview at UC Davis on Jan 4. I'd like to interview on November 30th. Any takers? Does anyone know if its even possible to switch dates?

I have two interviews I would like to reschedule but the other dates are full
1. VMC: I am scheduled for Nov. 28th but need to get out to Cali for my weeklong interview marathon that day...would like to switch with a Dec. 5th slot

2. Carolinas: I have Dec. 16 but am interviewing at another spot that day. Anyone up for a swap?

Thanks!

I dropped my date at Vandy, so nevermind...

just out of curiosity, have any of you actually been able to switch? is it allowed? do you just call up the coordinator with the proposed switch and ask? just wondering.....

Hey guys -
Trading among applicants is problematic. There's a TON of paperwork and review stuff that the program coordinator needs to do. If you show up in someone else's place, it's unlikely that they'll be prepared or impressed. The person who effectively cancels without notifying will also be negatively impacted I suspect. You should switch dates around as possible THROUGH THE PROGRAM COORDINATORS, but it's a crazy process and very difficult/frustrating with the timings of offers and the dates of the possible interviews. You really have to have a priority list for the interviews and be sure that you get some interviews at schools in each "tier" of your wish list arranged (i.e. - dream match, solid prospect, backup schools). The other thing about trading directly is that despite both tradees being offered interviews, there are other people already wait listed (likely) for the other interview dates, so they're ahead of you in priority. Try to be as direct and honest with the programs as possible; it will work to your ultimate advantage despite the frustration of conflicting interview dates and the torment of waiting to get off wait lists at places that you previously booked an interview. And remember, you probably won't be able to interview at EVERY place that you get offered. Enjoy the chaos! Ciao and good luck everyone.

Hey guys -
hey,
thanks for your advice kjh.

I don't think anyone should trade "directly" w/out going through program directors. Some are more willing to do this than others. From the popularity of this process on other forums and among the ppl in my class (in other fields) I would say that it is a feasible process. But, the hardest part is finding someone else with the dates you want, etc.

take care & good luck
