Hi y'all,

So I'm in a dilemma... I applied to schools in NY (my home state), and while there are options to interview right away (ie: Sept/Oct), I can also push back the date until winter break when I will be back in NY. (Which will be cheaper)

I was just wondering, specifically for schools like Hofstra and SUNY Upstate, among others will it be better to splurge and get those earlier interview dates? [but also potentially miss class, buy addt'l more expensive plane tickets, etc...] (I go to school in Pittsburgh btw)

Thanks in advance!

Until you have an acceptance, I would interview as early as possible everywhere. I would also drive it, if you have a car. IMO 6 hours is driving distance.

I'm sure you can bus it from Pittsburgh to NY. If you were flying cross country then I understand

+1 Pitt isn't that far from NY.

To answer your question:
Yes. For the vast majority of schools the earlier you interview, the better your chances for acceptance.

Schools start accepting people in October, and will continue to do so through Winter Break.

So, purposefully delaying it is only shooting yourself in the foot. If money is the issue, you'll want to try and find alternative (read: not flying) means to get there - maybe borrow a friend's car, bus, etc?
